ECHS Awards Program

The Erie County Historical Society has established several ways in which it recognizes outstanding achievement and dedication to the field of history, on the part of individuals and organizations. This recognition may be awarded for service over a period of time, or for the quality of a specific project.

Present board members and staff members of the ECHS are not eligible for the Local History and Preservation Awards. Representatives from all other fields of endeavor are eligible including business, government, professions, labor, media, historical societies and museums, neighborhood associations, youth organizations, schools and service groups.

The 2011 Award winners have been announced. Those winning awards and a copy of the Awards dinner invitation are shown below:

Nomination Applications:

Got someone in mind for next year? Anyone is eligible to make a nomination, and self-nominations are permitted. Nominations should be made on the application form, which can be downloaded here and then mailed or delivered to:

Entries are due by May 31, 2012

All awards are presented dependent upon the value and number of applicants during a given year. Therefore, some awards may not be given during a particular year.
