About ECHS

The Erie County Historical Society (ECHS) is an organization dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and presentation of the rich history of Erie and adjacent regions including Lake Erie and its maritime traditions.

We believe an ongoing understanding and celebration of public history contribute to a sense of community. Given the rich maritime, ethnic and industrial traditions of Erie, city and county, the Society has something to offer every member of the community through its publications, special exhibitions, and education programs and events. By collecting and sharing Erie’s remarkable stories, we give our children and their children a gift of history.
