Grab
your walking shoes and meet us downtown!
The
Erie County Historical Society now
offers four different walking
tours of downtown Erie. During the
summer months, several of these
tours are offered to the public
on a weekly basis. Walking tours
include…
Journey
Through Time
This
downtown walking tour focuses on the
architecture of Erie’s State
Street mercantile and financial district,
as well as Perry Square Park and the
city’s West Sixth Street Historic
District. Mansions, churches, other
notable structures, and the Erie Extension
Canal are included in this tour of
the west side of Erie.
Maritime
History Trail
This
ambitious tour of the waterfront spans
both the west and east sides, and
includes the Holland Street Pier,
Metro Machine, Dobbins Landing, Wolverine
Park, and much more.
Ghosts
& Legends of Erie
Do
you enjoy the mysterious and bizarre?
Join us for a tour of Erie’s
ghostly side. Hear the legend of “Mad”
Anthony Wayne, stand at the site of
Erie’s first and last execution,
and walk the path of the city’s
deadliest natural disaster.
Seaway
Trail Tour
Founded
in 1795, the City of Erie has more
than 200 years of history to offer
visitors. Seaway Trail walks include
several of the city’s oldest
structures, a glimpse of Erie’s
ethnic heritage, Underground Railroad
lore, and local maritime history.
