Group Tours
Groups
of all ages are invited to visit our
historic sites for a personalized
guided tour! Guided tours of the Erie
County History Museum, Cashier’s
House, Watson-Curtze Mansion, and
the Battles Museums of Rural Life
may be scheduled in advance for groups
of ten or more. We welcome groups
of 100 or more! Tours last approximately
one hour and are adjusted according
to audiences’ age and special
needs.

Guided
tours are available at the following
sites:
Cashier’s
House
This
1839 townhouse was built as the residence
of Peter Benson, head cashier of Erie’s
branch of the Bank of the United States.
Learn what life was like for Erie’s
early settlers by exploring early
modes of transportation, “modern
conveniences,” and even children’s
toys.
Student
activities may include exploring the
contents of an early 19th century
toy box, completing the Cashier’s
House History Hunt, or creating a
journal entry for the year 1839.
Erie
County History Center
Voices
from Erie County History is located
in the Main Gallery (Erie County History
Museum) of the Erie County History
Center. It is an interactive permanent
exhibit offering selective views of
Erie County history from pre-settlement
to today.
Student
activities may include completing
an exhibit scavenger hunt, learning
and playing Native American games,
or constructing a model of the Erie
Extension Canal.
Watson-Curtze
Mansion
Built
in 1891, the Watson-Curtze Mansion
provides a glimpse of what life was
like for Erie’s wealthier citizens.
Student
activities may include exploring a
turn-of-the-century toy box, creating
a 19th century toy, or completing
the Mansion History Hunt.
Battles
Museums of Rural Life
This
130 acre complex features two mid
nineteenth century houses, the R.S.
Battles Farmhouse and the Charlotte
Elizabeth Battles Memorial House.
Student
activities may include making butter,
weaving, or completing the Nature
Trail Scavenger Hunt.
