Throughout
the year interpretive exhibits on
particular themes are presented
and integrated into the house museums.
Staff and volunteer educators lead
tours of the houses highlighting
the integrated exhibits, which have
included artwork created by Charlottte
Elizabeth Battles, family corrrespondence
and 19th century crafts, and present
specialized lectures and other offerings
to reflect the needs of our growing
audiences.

Many activities
take place upon the grounds of the
R. S. Battles Farmhouse. With workshops
presented on the premises throughout
the year, visitors to the farmhouses
may have the opportunity to step back
in time to the mid 1860s and participate
in different tasks typical for the
Battles family farm. Visitors may
learn to churn butter, bake bread,
weave or spin yarn, quilt, weave baskets,
press flowers, help out with the laundry,
or countless other odd jobs.
